STAC BOYS BOWLING: WAVERLY BOYS RALLY TO EDGE OWEGO, 3-2 — WIN DIVISION TITLE; LADY WOLVERINES SWEEP (24 PHOTOS) (2025-02-05)

OWEGO — Junior Derek Johnson banged out a 700 series, and three of his teammates rolled 600 series to lead Waverly to a 3-2 win over Owego, and the STAC Central Division title, while the Lady Wolverines won via sweep here Wednesday afternoon in bowling action at the Owego Bowl.

BOYS
Waverly 3, Owego 2

Owego pulled out a pair of close decisions in the first two games — 1,083-1,082 and 1,059-1,052, but Waverly won the third game 1,052-943 to pull out the two-point total-pinfall win by a count of 3,186 to 3,085.

The teams entered the match with identical 41-4 records.

Johnson rolled games of 266, 191, and 278 for a 735 series, while Maison Apgar shot a 640 on games of 215, 225, and 200, and 8th-grader Colten Santalucia fired a 634 on games of 176, 236, and 222.

Junior Tristan Campbell had a 607 for the Wolverines on games of 199, 204, and 204, and senior Dom Wood added a 570 series, including a 226.

Connor Kotski led the River Hawks with a match-high 736 series, including games of 267 and 279, while Evan O'Hara shot a 656, and Devan Card rolled a 627.

Waverly returns to action Monday at the STAC Championships at Vestal's Midway Lanes.

GIRLS
Waverly 5, Owego 0

Waverly won the first game 772-628, then followed it up with wins of 828-698 and 806-712 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,406 to 2,038.

Serenity Conklin paced the Wolverines with a 567 series, including games of 203 and 204, while Rylie Witman shot a 551, and Karis Hayes had a 507, including a 204.

Ariel Houseknecht added a 420 in the sweep.

Izzy Coveney led Owego with a 510 series, and Elizabeth Reigle added a 465.

JV Boys
Nate Andrews-Larson rolled a 512 series to lead Waverly in a sweep of Owego, including a total-pinfall victory of 2,214 to 2,051.

Camden Leary shot a 488, Cameron Wood added a 430, and Quentin Goose tacked on a 413.
