STAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY PULLS AWAY LATE IN 50-35 WIN OVER CHENANGO VALLEY (2025-02-12)

WAVERLY — Waverly jumped ahead early, battled through the middle two quarters, then blew the game open in the fourth quarter in a 50-35 win over Chenango Valley in STAC junior varsity boys basketball action here Wednesday night.

Braiden Judson pumped in eight points in the first quarter, and Jack Pipher knocked down a 3-pointer to lead Waverly in a 14-6 first-quarter run.

CV outscored Waverly 11-6 in the second quarter to close the gap to 20-17 at the half.

Sam Cheresnowsky and Judson scored four points apiece in the third quarter to help Waverly to a 13-11 advantage. The Wolverines led 33-28 heading into the fourth quarter.

Judson scored 11 points, including a 3-pointer, while Eric Lewis and Axel Murray each added 3-pointers to field a 17-7 fourth-quarter blitz to lock down the win.

Judson led Waverly with 23 points, six rebounds, and four steals, while Pipher had eight points, eight rebounds, four assists, and five steals, and Cheresnowsky scored six points.

Murray scored six points and hauled down 13 rebounds in the win, while Lewis added five points and four rebounds, and Chase Wheeler grabbed four boards.

Waverly, which improves to 15-2 overall, and 11-0 in STAC play, will close out the regular season Thursday at home against Windsor.
