Corning junior Cella McLaughlin won three events to help the Hawks extend their track & field dominance, while Waverly junior Cooper Robinson was dominant on his way to a weight class title at the Section IV wrestling qualifier. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Feb. 8.

CORNING'S McLAUGHLIN NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM GIRLS REGIONAL "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
McLaughlin won a pair of events to help Corning to its 11th consecutive Section IV, Class Sectional title.

McLaughlin won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.32 seconds, and the 300-meter dash in 42.6 seconds.

She also won the long jump with a leap of 17-feet, 5 3//4-inches.

Honorable Mentions: Wellsboro's Piper Anderegg (swimming), Athens' Evelyn Panek (swimming), Troy's Kailyn Sterling (basketball), and Newark Valley's Adrianna Finta (basketball).

WAVERLY'S ROBINSON NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM BOYS REGIONAL "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Robinson scored three technical falls to win the 152-pound bracket at Qualifier "B."

Robinson forged an 18-2 tech fall in the quarterfinals, and a 17-2 tech fall in the semifinals.

Robinson, the top-ranked 152-pounder in Section IV, scored a 22-7 tech fall over Unatego-Unadilla Valley-Franklin's Abdeen Zaggout, ranked No. 2 in Section IV, in the finals.

Robinson beat Zaggout 10-3, 9-3, and 9-3 in their first three meetings this season.
