DISTRICT 4 WRESTLING: SAYRE'S BROWN WINS NORTH SECTION TITLE; FIRST SINCE 2016 FOR REDSKINS (5 PHOTOS) (2025-02-16)

SAYRE'S BROWN GOES 2-2 AT DISTRICT 4 GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Valley Sports Report

WELLSBORO — Sayre sophomore Jordan Brown was 3-0, including a pair of upsets, to win the 172-pound title here Saturday afternoon at the District 4, North Section Wrestling Championships.

"It feels pretty good, I’ve done lots of hard work," said Brown when asked about winning his first North Section title.

Brown is Sayre's first North Section champ since Nate Nordin reigned in 2016.

Brown, the third seed, decked Williamson's Jeremy Fuhrer in 24 seconds in the quarterfinals, then pinned second-seeded Rylan Breidt of Troy in 1:13 in the finals.

In the finals, Brown faced top-seeded Chase Guerin of Towanda, who advanced to the title match with a pair of technical falls.

After a scoreless first period, Guerin chose neutral to start the second period, and Brown scored a takedown midway through the period to take a 3-0 lead.

Brown scored an escape to take a 4-0 lead, but was dinged for a technical violation to put Guerin on the board.

Brown sealed the win with a takedown with 33 seconds remaining to stretch the lead to 7-1.

Guerin finished off the scoring with an escape in the final seconds.

Brown returns to action next weekend at the District 4 Championships at Williamsport High School.
