SECTION IV GIRLS BOWLING: HELMICH LEADS TIOGA TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT CLASS D CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-02-21)

VESTAL — Tioga had a trio of bowlers in the top 10 in a second-place finish at the Section IV, Class D girls bowling championships here Friday evening at Midway Lanes.

Candor claimed the team title with a three-game set of 2,409, while Tioga tallied 2,332, and Groton was third at 2,102.

By virtue of the second-place finish and the IAC Small School title, the Tigers advance to next week's Section IV State Qualifier.

Kelsey Helmich led Tioga with a 561 series, which was third on the day in the individual ranks. She also rolled a 192. which was was fifth on the day.

Liberty Magner shot a 524 series for the Tigers, which was seventh, while Selena LaFritz was eighth with a 509 series.

Katie Bleiler added a 377 for Tioga, while Paige Hicks had a 257 in two games, and Sabrina Ellis tacked on a game of 104.

The Section IV State Qualifier is Friday at 9 a.m. at Waverly's Valley Bowling Center.
