SECTION IV BOYS BOWLING: SLATER LEADS TIOGA TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT CLASS D CHAMPIONSHIPS; TIGERS ADVANCE TO STATE QUALIFIER (2025-02-22)
Valley Sports ReportVESTAL — Nick Slater banged out a 650 series to lead a balanced Tioga line-up to a second-place finish here Saturday morning at the Section IV, Class D boys bowling championships at Midway Lanes.
By virtue of the second-place finish, the Tigers advance to next Thursday's Section IV State Qualifier at the Valley Bowling Center. Start time is 9 a.m.
Hancock won the Class D title with a three-game set of 2,941, while Tioga tallied 2,864 pins, Bainbridge-Guilford was third at 2,797, Candor was fourth at 2,675, and Deposit was fifth at 2,634 pins.
Slater was third on the day in the Class D individual standings with a 650 series on games of 202, 233, and 215.
Garrett Godfrey was eighth on the day with a 577 series, including a 212 in the first game, and Charles Holmes was 15th with a 555, including a 222 in the first game.
James Luther was 16th a 554 series for the Tigers, and Austin Mumbulo tacked on a 528 series.
