Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — A pair of Valley wrestlers will compete in the first-ever New York State Girls Wrestling Championships at the MVP Arena in Albany, while the top bowlers from Section IV converge on the Valley Bowling Center in Waverly for the Boys Bowling Championships, and Athens will attempt to follow up a very successful first day at the District 4 Swim Championships.
GIRLS WRESTLING
New York State Championships, 10 a.m. @ MVP Arena, Albany: Tioga senior Kali Bailey and Waverly's Elona Holmes will both be in action Thursday morning.
BOYS BOWLING
Section IV State Qualifier, 9 a.m. @ Valley Bowling Center: Waverly, the STAC champ and Section IV, Class C champ will face stiff competition from Owego and Maine-Endwell for the Division 2 team berth to the New York State Championships.
Tioga would need a career day from all of its bowlers to be in the mix for a team title, but Nick Slater has a legitimate shot to qualify for the individual tournament.
BOYS & GIRLS SWIMMING
District 4 Championships, 5 p.m. @ Williamsport H.S.: Senior Ethan Hicks qualified for States in three events, including a pair of relays, and the Wildcats will look to add a couple more events to the list of events at Bucknell University.
