SECTION IV GIRLS BOWLING: WAVERLY’S CONKLIN QUALIFIES FOR STATE TOURNAMENT (2025-02-28)

WAVERLY — Waverly senior Serenity Conklin earned a spot on the Section IV Composite team with a sixth-place showing at the Section IV Division 2 Girls Bowling State Qualifier at Valley Bowling Center here Friday.

Conklin finished with a 1736 series over nine games to claim the fifth spot on the squad. The top six will bowl at states with the seventh going as an alternate.

She rallied in the afternoon session to land a spot in the state tournament. Conklin came into the qualifier after rolling a 560 series at the class sectional tournament, but struggled during the morning session with a 506. She was able to regroup for the final series, posting a 199, 235 and 236 to finish with a 670. She recorded the third highest series among the individual competitors and her 236 game was fifth.

The Wolverines’ Karis Hayes scored a 597 series in the morning and a 586 in the afternoon to finish with a 9-game total of 1670. Her 597 was sixth among the individual competitors and her high game of 257 was fourth best. Hayes ended up ninth on the list of bowlers vying for a spot on the Composite team.

The Composite tournament will be held at AMF Strike ’N Spare Lanes in Syracuse March 15.
