SECTION IV GIRLS BOWLING: HELMICH LEADS TIOGA AT STATE QUALIFIER (2025-02-28) Valley Sports Report
WAVERLY — Kelsey Helmich rolled an 1141 over six games to lead Tioga at the Section IV Division 2 Girls Bowling State Qualifier at Valley Bowling Center here Friday.
Helmich shot 560 in the morning session and 581 in the afternoon with high games of 214 and 203, respectively. Combined with her 561 from the class sectional tournament, she finished ninth overall in Division 2 with a 1702 total. Her 581 was the eight best series and her 214 was the 10th best game.
The Tigers’ Faith Lafritz opened the qualifier with a 222, the ninth highest game in D2. She had series of 564 and 477. Combined with a 409 at sectionals, she finished with a 1550 9-game score.
Liberty Magner and Katie Bleiler were the only other team members to bowl all six games at the qualifier. Magner carried a 429 and 467 to finish at 1420 overall (524 sectionals) and Bleiler added 388 and 393, along with a 377 at sectionals, for an 1158 total. Magner posted a high game of 202 in the afternoon and Bleiler had a 176 in the morning.
Also competing for Tioga were Sabrina Ellis in three games, Kelsey Ellis in two and Paige Hicks in one game.
The Tigers’ total pinfall for nine games was 6829, placing them seventh in the 8-team field.
