Valley Sports ReportOLD FORGE — Sayre will make its first appearance in the boys basketball state playoffs in five years, while District 2 Old Forge is a regular to the festivities.
The Redskins, now 16-9, punched their ticket to the PIAA Class AA playoffs with a win over Northeast Bradford last Saturday in the consolation game of the District 4 playoffs.
The Blue Devils, now 19-5, advanced with a 54-32 win over Lackawanna Trail in the District 2 title game.
Old Forge's five losses come to three larger schools — two to D2 Class AAA runner-up Holy Cross (22-4), two to D2 Class AAA champ Riverside (23-2), and one to D2 Class 4A champ Valley View (20-5) — with a combined 65 wins between them.
