SYRACUSE — Waverly senior Serenity Conklin capped her career with 30th-place finish in the New York State Division 2 Girls Composite Tournament here Saturday at the Strike N' Spare Lanes.

"For her first ever trip to States, I thought she handled it really well," said Waverly coach Derek Bowman.

"She never seemed nervous, and she was excited to bowl with the other girls from Section IV," he added.

Conklin rolled a six-game set of 1,095. She had a 513 series in the morning, and then rolled a 582 series, which included a 225, in the afternoon.

"She had a little better look in the afternoon, but overall I thought she bowled well," said Bowman. "It was a great way to end a remarkable career."

Section IV finished fourth — 150 pins out of third place — in the team standings. Section II won the team title with a six-game set of 6,199, edging Section VI, which was just 16 pins back at 6,183. Section V was third with a 6,050, and Section IV tallied 5,894.

Jenna Jump of Union Springs / Port Byron led the Section IV team with a six-game set of 1,290 — rolling series of 656 and 643, including games of 257 and 234. She finished fifth in the overall standings.

Aubrianna Tyler of Windsor was 12th with a 1,209, and Carline Smead of US / PB was 24th with an 1,126.
