Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — The Tioga baseball and softball teams open the 2025 season against one of the IAC North's best program in Union Springs, and the Waverly flag football team plays its first home game of the season.
BASEBALL
Union Springs at Tioga, 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 13-6 season that ended with a 12-0 loss to Unatego in the Class C quarterfinals, while the Wolves are coming off a 17-1 season that ended with a 7-1 loss to Unatego in the semifinals.
Last year, Union Springs, which had just one senior on its roster, won at home, 2-0, and at Tioga, 11-1.
SOFTBALL
Union Springs at Tioga, 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 17-4 season in which it went 1-2 against Union Springs, while the defending Section IV champion Wolves were 17-2.
Last year, Union Springs rolled to a 16-1 win over Tioga in the Section IV, Class C Championship game.
Last year during the regular season, the Wolves edged the Tigers, 13-11, but Tioga answered with a 5-4 win over U.S. in the IAC Small School championship game.
FLAG FOOTBALL
Susquehanna Valley at Waverly (1-1), 6:30 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 25-21 win over Chenango Valley.
Last year, Waverly topped Chenango Forks, 36-20.
TENNIS
Chenango Forks at Waverly (0-1), 5 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a season-opening, 6-1, loss to Chenango Valley Monday, while the Blue Devils dropped a 5-2 decision to Maine-Endwell.
