THE VALLEY — Athens hosts crosstown Sayre on the diamonds Thursday, while Waverly baseball opens the season at Norwich, and the Waverly track teams open their season at home.

BASEBALL
Sayre (0-5) at Athens (4-0), 4:30 p.m.:
The Redskins are coming off a 16-2 home loss to Cowanesque Valley, while the Wildcats topped North Penn-Mansfield, 9-6 in eight innings.

Last year, Athens rolled to a 20-4 win over Sayre.

Waverly at Norwich, 4:30 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 16-6 season that ended with a 5-3 loss to Oneonta in the Section IV, Class B championship game, while the Purple Tornadoes were 1-15 in 2024.

Last year, Waverly thumped Norwich, 18-1.

SOFTBALL
Sayre (1-5) at Athens (4-0), 4:30 p.m.:
The Redskins are coming off a 16-4 home loss to Cowanesque Valley Tuesday, while the Wildcats rolled over Wyalusing, 19-4, Thursday.

Last year, Athens cruised to a 14-2 win over Sayre.

Waverly (1-0) at Norwich (0-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 12-3 win over Addison Saturday, while the Purple Tornadoes were 1-16 in 2024.

Last year, Waverly rolled to a 13-1 win.

TRACK & FIELD
Chenango Valley at Waverly, 5 p.m.:
The Wolverines open the 2025 season with a lot of new faces.

TENNIS
Chenango Forks at Waverly (0-2), 5 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off a 6-1 loss to Chenango Valley, while the Blue Devils dropped a 5-2 decision to Maine-Endwell.
