YOUTH SWIMMING: WAVERLY'S ATANASOFF LEADS WAAC'S EFFORTS AT NIAGARA GOLD 14 & UNDER CHAMPIONSHIPS (4 PHOTOS) (2025-04-05)

BUFFALO — Waverly's Megan Atanasoff had four top-three finishes, including a first-place, to pace the Waverly Area Aquatics Club's efforts here at the Niagara Swimming 202 14 & Under Gold Championships.

As a team, WAAC finished 23 in the 41-team field.

"These kids are amazing," said coach Shannon Hood. "There were so many PRs, I am so proud of them and all of their hard work. To qualify to swim at this level is truly an achievement itself. I am looking forward to next season already."

Atanasoff (13-14, Girls) won the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 25.95 seconds. She was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.99 seconds, and second in the 100-yard freestyle in 53.34 seconds.

Atanasoff's time in the 50 free would be third all-time in Waverly H.S. program history, while her time in the 100 free is sixth.

Waverly's Audrey Kellogg (13-14, Girls) finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.27 seconds.

She placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.79 seconds (swam 25.65 in prelims), and was 20th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.27 seconds.

Kellogg's time in the 50 and 100 free would both place sixth all-time in Waverly H.S. program history,r WAC.

Waverly's Natalie Steck (13-14, Girls) placed fifth in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 33.63 seconds, and was seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:13.01 (swam 1:12.64 in prelims).

She finished 24th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.89 seconds.

Steck's time in the 100 breaststroke would be sixth all-time in Waverly H.S. program history.

Brynna Twedt (13-14, Girls) finished 22nd in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 31.77 seconds.

The 200-yard freestyle relay of Atanasoff (25.74 seconds in split), Steck (26.36), Twedt (26.7), and Kellogg (25.12) finished third (out of 22 teams) in a time of 1:43.92, which would have been good for third-fastest in Section IV last season.

The relay time would be fifth all-time in Waverly H.S. program history,.

Waverly's Ramey Grazette (13-14, Boys) finished 22nd in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 32.84 seconds, and was 23rd in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 29.07 seconds.

He was 47th in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.49 seconds.

Sayre's Atillio Agnellino (11-12, Boys) finished ninth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.57 seconds, and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:01.34.

He also finished 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:28.16, and was 23rd in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 37.73 seconds.

The relay team of Athens' Lucas Wagner, Angellino, Grazette, and Lincoln finished 15th in a time of 2:15.13.

Waverly's Brianna Steck (10 & Under, Girls) finished seventh in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 38.21 seconds, and was 20th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 35.03 seconds.

Notre Dame's James Lincoln (13-14, Boys) finished 21st in the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 28.88 seconds, and was 33rd in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.93 seconds.

Waverly's Arielle Allison (10 & Under, Girls) finished 19th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:17.71, and was 27th in the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:32.47.

She was 30th in the 50-yard backstroke in a time of 42.41 seconds, and 41st in the 50-yard freestyle in 36.71 seconds.

Athens' Nat Foster (10 & Under, Girls) finished 40th in the 100-yard IM in a time of 1:39.31, and 55th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 55.34 seconds.
