STAC SOFTBALL: CV RIDES 10-RUN INNING TO 13-1 WIN OVER WAVERLY (2025-04-14)

BINGHAMTON — Chenango Valley pushed 10 runs across the plate in the top bottom of the third inning on its way to a 13-1 five-inning win over Waverly here Monday afternoon in STAC softball action.

The Warriors scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, then put the game away in the third inning.

Waverly's lone run came in the top of the fourth inning.

Junior Delaney Wheeler led off the rally with a walk, and senior Makayla Esau followed with a double.

After senior Meghan Apgar worked a walk to load the bases, senior Brinn Cooney drew a walk to force home a run.

CV starter Nicole Tyler retired the next three batters to leave the bases loaded.

The Warriors answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to provide the final margin.

Sophomore Lecksie Douglas doubled and singled, and Esau added a double to account for Waverly's three hits, while Cooney walked three times, and had an RBI, and junior Delaney Wheeler scored one run.

Waverly, now 4-2, returns to action Saturday at Maine-Endwell in a noon start.
