STAC BASEBALL: WELLES, AULT POWER WAVERLY IN 15-4 WIN OVER CHENANGO FORKS (2025-04-21)

BINGHAMTON — Sophomore Matthias Welles and junior Ronin Ault powered the Waverly offense, in support of a strong pitching performance by Ault, in a 15-4 win over Chenango Forks here Monday afternoon in STAC baseball action.

Waverly jumped ahead early with three runs in the top of the first, and four more runs in the second to take a 7-0 lead.

The Blue Devils closed the gap to 7-2 after three innings, but the Wolverines scored one run in the fifth inning, three in the sixth, and four more in the seventh inning to stretch its lead to 15-2.

Sophomore Justin Koenig singled three times, scored one run, and drive in one run, while Welles homered, drove in three runs, stole two bases, and scored three runs, and Ault doubled and singled, stole two bases, scored one run, and had three RBI in Waverly's 11-hit attack.

Freshman Jack Pipher singled twice, scored four runs, stole two bases, and knocked in one run in the win, while junior Hogan Shaw doubled and singled, stole two bases, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and senior Lincoln Sharpsteen singled and knocked in one run.

Junior Cooper Robinson registered three of Waverly's 12 stolen bases in the game, walked three times, and scored three runs, and sophomore Ben Shaw scored one run and walked four times.

Ault earned the win for the Wolverines with 6 1/3 innings of one-hit ball. He allowed four runs — one earned, while striking out 10 and walking five. Pipher recorded the final out of the contest.

Waverly, now 6-3, hosts Chenango Forks Wednesday in the second game of the three-game series.
