NTL SOFTBALL: CANTON FENDS OFF SAYRE RALLY IN 13-3 WIN (12 PHOTOS) (2025-04-22)

Valley Sports Report
SAYRE — Sayre cut a six-run deficit in half in the fifth inning, but Canton put the game away with six runs in the top of the sixth inning on its way to a 13-3 win here Tuesday afternoon in NTL Small School softball action.

Canton led 2-0 after three innings, then scored four runs in the top of the fourth to make it 5-0, and added a run in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-0.

Junior Olivia Thompson stroked a one-out single for the Redskins in the bottom of the sixth, moved to second on a miscue on the play, and advanced to third on a passed ball.

After a walk to freshman McKenna Parrish, senior Raegan Parrish lined an RBI single to right field to make it 6-1.

Senior Abbie McGaughey knocked in a run with a groundout, and Raegan Parrish scored on an error to close the gap to 6-3.

Sayre's momentum was short-lived, however, as the first seven Warriors reached safely to take a 10-3 lead. They added two more runs in the rally to make it 12-3.

Raegan Parrish singled twice, scored one run, and drove in one run, while Thompson singled twice and scored one run, and McGaughey singled and drove in one run to pace Sayre's nine-hit attack.

Senior Mercedez haggerty, sophomore Mikyah Brown, and sophomore Zoey Ward each added a single, and McKenna Parrish scored one run.

Sayre, now 2-7, hosts Sullivan County Wednesday and NP-Liberty Friday.
