NTL TRACK & FIELD: ATHENS GIRLS, BOYS BOTH WIN QUAD MEET (24 PHOTOS) (2025-04-22)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Senior Sara Bronson and junior Abby Burgess were four-time winners to lead the Lady Wildcats to wins over Troy, Wyalusing, and Sayre, while the Athens boys used superior depth to pull out three wins here Tuesday in NTL track & field action at Alumni Stadium.
GIRLS
Athens 110, Troy 77, Wyalusing 69, Sayre 10"We finally had a night with nice weather and the girls really showed all the hard work they have been putting in, we had PR's all over the place," said Athens coach Mike Bronson.
"Sara, Abby, and Lizzie are really dependable for us and all three put up good times tonight," he noted.
"Evey Panek had a big day high jumping clearing 5 feet. Our throwers made some nice improvements tonight, Maleah Hadlokc had a big PR in the shot put, Annika Lezak and Mya Smith both had good PRs in the javelin.
"We still have a good amount of work to do between now and the NTL meet and Districts, but we are headed in the right direction, getting a little bit better each week," added Bronson.
Bronson won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:20.02, while junior Ava Hughes was second in 6:12.87, and junior Karolin Rolle was fourth in 6:55.19.
Bronson won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 13:11.73, while Roelle was third in 15:58.16, sophomore Grace Ellsworth was fourth in 17:21.76, and junior Fiona Coniglio was fifth in 19:17.83.
Bronson also won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:37.18, while Roelle was fourth in 2:59.99, and freshman Hailey Brinkley was fifth in 3:03.05.
Bronson and Burgess teamed with junior Lizzie Gorsline, and senior Emma Renninger to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:27.05.
Burgess won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.72 seconds, while Schmieg was fourth in 14.04 seconds, and senior Annaleise Geisinger was fifth in 14.21 seconds.
Burgess won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.14 seconds, and Schmieg was third in 29.48 seconds.
Burgess also won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.06, while Renninger was fourth in 1:09.29, and sophomore Haylie Horton was fifth in 1:10.78.
Athens' other wins went to the foursome of senior Addy Wheeler, Roelle, Hughes, and Vough in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 11:22.48, and to
Junior Evelyn Panek, who won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-feet. Junior Elizabeth Denlinger was fourth at 4-feet, 4-inches.
Gorsline finished in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 48.98 seconds, and Wheeler was fourth in 55.43 seconds.
Gorsline finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.55 seconds, and sophomore Hannah Parrish was fourth in 19.41 seconds.
Freshman Maleah Hadlock finished second in the shot put with a heave of 25-feet, 7 1/2-inches, and sophomore Abby Wagner was fifth at 23-feet, 6 1/4-inches.
Freshman Annika Lezak placed second in the javelin with a throw of 93-feet, 6-inches, and sophomore Mya Smith was fourth at 81-feet.
Denlinger finished third in the pole vault at 8-feet. She was fifth in the long jump at 14-feet, 4-inches.
Senior Hannah Earls finished fourth in the discus with a mark of 83-feet, 10-inches, and junior Leah Nason was fifth at 72-feet, 8-inches.
BOYS
Athens 95, Troy 89, Wyalusing 60, Sayre 22Sophomore Graham Wanck, and juniors Ryan Cook and Alex Thompson were double-winners, and the Wildcats had a host of second- and third-place finishes to pull out wins over Troy, Wyalusing and Sayre.
Wanck won the 3,200-meter run in a time of 10:33.76, while sophomore Lucas Persun was second in 10:58.08, sophomore Alex Arcesi was third at 11:07.14, and sophomore Jacob Shores was fifth in 11:24.87.
Wanck, Thompson, Shores, and senior Ethan Hicks teamed to win the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 8:40.38.
Senior Lucius Mickley and Brayden Onofre, Cook, and sophomore Ryder Morley teamed to win the 400-meter relay in a time of 46.19 seconds.
Thompson and Cook teamed with junior Sean Peters and freshman Patrick Umber to win the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:37.93.
Senior Jase Babcock won the high jump, clearing the bar at 6-feet, 2-inches, and sophomore Isaac Roy was fourth at 5-feet, 2-inches.
Babcock finished second in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 9 1/4-inches. He was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 38-feet, 11 1/2-inches, and senior Peter Jones was fifth at 35-feet, 1 1/2-inches.
Senior Ronel Ankam was second in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 17.67 seconds, and junior Chase Ingram was fifth in 19.73 seconds.
Ankam also finished second in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 43.17 seconds, and senior Ethan Hicks was fifth in 49.32 seconds.
Persun finished second in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:00.46, while sophomore Matt Rossettie was third in 5:01.1, Acresi was fourth in 5:03.51, and Shores was fifth in 5:13.29.
Umber finished second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 54.56 seconds, while Peters was third in 56.22 seconds, and sophomore Brayden Westbrook was fifth in 58.49 seconds.
Junior Brenden Comstock finished second in the discus at 119-feet, 5-inches, and senior Caleb Nason was fifth at 108-feet, 1-inch.
Cook finished third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.13 seconds, while senior Peter Jones was fourth in 24.61 seconds, and Morley was fifth in 24.85 seconds.
Hicks placed third in the javelin with a throw of 126-feet, 6-inches.
Junior Chase Ingram finished third in the pole vault at 9-feet, 6-inches.
Cook finished fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.07 seconds, and Rossettie finished fourth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:20.53.
Senior Caleb Nason finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 34-feet, 1/2-inch.
Athens returns to action Friday at the Lasagna Invite in Wyalusing.
