Valley Sports Report
SAYRE — Sophomore Brady Flynn tossed a complete game, and powered Athens at the plate in a 14-2 six-inning win over Sayre here Friday afternoon in NTL baseball action at Riverfront Park.

Flynn allowed two runs in the first inning, but was spotless through the next five innings to earn the win. He allowed two earned runs on five hits, while striking out 12 and walking one in six innings.

Flynn helped his own cause in the top of the first inning with a one-out two-run double to give the Wildcats a quick 2-0 lead.

The Redskins, however, answered with singles by seniors Nick Pellicano and Jamier Cole, and sophomore Shaine Strickland to load the bases, and a two-RBI single by junior Karter Green to tie the game.

The Athens defense cut a runner down at the plate on an infield grounder for the first out, then Flynn fanned the next two batters to escape the first inning with a 2-2 tie.

Sayre's only hit the rest of the game was a one-out triple by Green in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Senior Troy Rosenbloom led off the top of the first with a single, and scored on a one-out RBI single by Flynn to make it 3-2.

Sophomore Kam Wheeler added an RBI single later in the inning to extend the lead to 4-2.
