IAC SOFTBALL: UNBEATEN UNION SPRINGS ROLLS PAST TIOGA, 13-1 (3 PHOTOS) (2025-04-28)

UNION SPRINGS — Unbeaten Union Springs scored nine runs in the bottom of the second inning, and cruised to a 13-1 win over Tioga here Monday afternoon in IAC Large School softball action.

The Tigers had nine hits in the loss, but left 10 runners on bases, including leading the bases loaded twice.

The Wolves, now 11-0, broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second, turning six base on balls, an error, and four hits, including a 3-run home run by Gracie Chalupnicki, into a 9-0 lead.

Tioga got on the board in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Kate Kithcart to score junior Emily Shiner, who led off the inning with a single, to close the gap to 10-1.

The Wolves ended the game with three runs in the fifth inning to invoke the 12-run "mercy rule."

Senior McKenzie Williams singled twice to pace Tioga's offense, while Kithcart singled and drove in a one run, and Shiner singled and scored one run.

Senior Emily Luther, juniors RaeAnne Feeko, Lily Mezzatersta, Jade Keaty, and Raegan Foley each added a single.

Kithcart had the best turn on the mound for the Tigers. She allowed four runs on seven hits, with one strikeout and one walk in three innings of relief.

Luther was tagged with the loss.

Tioga, now 7-2, hosts Moravia Wednesday.
