WAVERLY — Rianne Moelder led off the game with a home run to trigger a Susquehanna Valley offensive onslaught in a 22-1 win over Waverly here Monday afternoon in STAC softball action.
The Sabers, ranked No. 1 in the State in Class B, took advantage of eight Waverly errors in the contest. They led 4-0 after the first inning, and added eight runs in the second inning.
The Wolverines got on the board when sophomore Hannah Carpenter led off the fourth inning with a double, and 8th-grade courtesy-runner Ayla Wheeler scored on a pair of passed balls to close the gap to 13-1.
Moelder led the SV offense with three hits, including two home runs and a double, three runs scored, and four RBI, and Kylee Richardson had three hits, with a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI.
Carpenter doubled, while sophomore Lecksie Douglas, and seniors Makayla Esau and Meghan Apgar each added a single to account for Waverly's four hits.
Lillianna D'Introno earned the win for SV, allowing an unearned run on four hits, with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Waverly, now 5-6, hosts Chenango Valley Wednesday.
