BRADFORD-SULLIVAN COUNTIES SPECIAL OLYMPICS BRINGS HOME HARDWARE APLENTY FROM SECTIONAL SWIM MEET (2025-05-08)
Valley Sport ReportLORETO, Pa. — The Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA) Bradford-Sullivan Counties swim team competed very successfully recently at the 2025 Central Spring Sectional here at St. Francis University.
SOPA divided athletes into divisions based upon their previous times in the various distances.
In the fundamental events, Evan Haggerty won golds in the 15-yard floatation race, the 15-yard kickboard race, and the 25-yard flotation race.
Elizabeth Porter entered the water to win the gold medal for the 800-yard freestyle.
In the 25-yard freestyle race, Mara Davis earned the gold in her division; Cole Fowler won the fourth-place ribbon in his division.
Davis next won the silver medal in the 50-yard backstroke.
Porter took gold in the 100-yd butterfly and 100-yard backstroke.
Jacob Steiner won the gold medal for the 100-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle.
Fowler won silver in the 25-yard backstroke and gold in the 50-yard freestyle.
The day’s racing concluded with the relays. Team Bradford-Sullivan competed in the 4-by-25-yard freestyle relay, with Steiner, Fowler, Davis and Porter earning gold against stiff competition.
