IAC SOFTBALL: KITHCART TOSSES 1-HITTER; TIOGA WALKS AWAY WITH 14-1 WIN OVER NEWFIELD (2025-05-08)

NEWFIELD — Eighth-grader Kate Kithcart tossed a 1-hitter, and Tioga took advantage of 17 base on balls issued by Newfield pitching to post a 14-1 five-inning win here Thursday afternoon in IAC Small School Division softball action.
Kithcart allowed an unearned run, while striking out four and walking none in five innings to earn the win.
The Tigers took immediate control of the game with nine runs in the top of the first inning, a rally that featured an RBI double by sophomore Vanessa Tunnicliff, and RBI singles by junior Lilly Mezzatesta, 8th-grader Irie Lynch, and senior McKenzie Williams.
Tioga added four runs in the second, and led 14-0 entering the bottom of the field when Newfield got on the board with an unearned run.
Junior RaeAnne Feeko doubled, scored one run, and drove in two runs, while Tunnicliff doubled, stole three bases, scored one run, and knocked in one run, and junior Reagan Foley singled, scored one run, and drove in one run.
Williams singled, scored one run, and had one RBI for the Tigers, while 8th-grader Bri Lounsbury singled, stole two bases, and scored three runs, Mezzatesta singled and scored two runs, and Lynch singled and scored one run.
Kithcart scored one run, stole two bases, and drove in one run in the win, and sophomore Jade Keaty crossed the plate once.
Tioga, now 11-2, hosts Newark valley Friday.
