Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Mother Nature has wreaked havoc on the schedules this spring, and Friday will be no different. With all-day rains in forecast, the two track invitationals — including the NTL Championships at Athens — on the docket should go off as planned, but the baseball-softball and golf on the slate are likely to be washed out.
TRACK & FIELD
NTL Championships, 1:30 p.m @ Athens H.S.: The Athens boys and girls will vie for team titles, with senior Sara Bronson and sophomore Abby Burgess leading the Lady Wildcats, and senior Jase Babcock and sophomore Graham Wanck heading the boys' efforts.
Seniors Marco Quiros and Rose Shikanga will likely highlight the Redskins' efforts.
Waverly at Hornell Invitational, 5 p.m.: It seems every year Waverly heads to the Hornell Invite, it rains and this year is no different.
BASEBALL
Athens (14-2) at Selinsgrove (4-12), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 12-0 win over Cowanesque Valley Thursday, while the Seals edged Shikellamy, 2-1.
Newark Valley (0-10) at Tioga (9-3), 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Groton — 5-4 and 17-8 — Monday, while the Cardinals dropped an 11-1 decision to Newfield.
SOFTBALL
Newark Valley (4-9) at Tioga (11-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 14-1 win over Newfield Thursday, while the Cardinals topped Newfield, 16-3, Monday.
Waverly (6-8) at Owego (11-2), 5 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off an 11-1 win over Chenango Forks Wednesday, while the River Hawks topped Chenango Valley, 7-4.
On Monday, Owego edged Waverly, 8-7.
BOYS GOLFTioga (4-4) at O-M, 4 p.m.
