NTL TRACK & FIELD: ANKAM, WANCK, BABCOCK LEAD ATHENS TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT LEAGUE MEET (22 PHOTOS) (2025-05-09)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Senior Ronel Ankam logged Athens' only individual win, and two relays also earned gold to help the Wildcats to a second-place finish here Friday at the NTL Boys Track & Field Championships at Alumni Stadium.
Troy won the team title with 137 points, while Athens tallied 114 points, Wellsboro was third with 86.5 points, Wyalusing was fourth with 71.5 points, and North Penn-Mansfield was fifth with 67 points.
Ankam won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 42.8 seconds, and senior Ethan Hicks was 10th in 49.21 seconds.
Ankam finished third in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16.82 seconds, and junior Chase Ingram was ninth in 19.83 seconds.
The foursome of seniors Lucius Mickey and Brayden Onofre, junior Ryan Cook, and sophomore Ryder Morley teamed to win 400-meter relay in a time of 46.11 seconds.
The foursome of Hicks, junior Alex Thompson, and sophomores Graham Wanck and Matt Rossettie won the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 8:33.52.
Wanck finished second in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 10:16.92, while sophomore Lucas Persun was fourth in 10:42.3, and sophomore Alex Acresi was sixth in 10:50.46.
Wanck finished third in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:33.92, while Rossettie was sixth in 4:50.18, and Persun was seventh in 4:58.63.
Senior Jase Babcock finished second in the high jump at 5-feet, 10-inches.
Babcock also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 2 1/2-inches, while senior Peter Jones was second in 17-feet, 9 1/2-inches, and Mickley was 13th at 17-feet, 5-inches.
The foursome of Thompson, Cook, freshman Patrick Umber and junior Sean Peters teamed to finish third in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 3:39.82.
Thompson finished fourth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:05.44, while Wanck was sixth in 2:07.32, and Rossettie was seventh in 2:09.97.
Cook placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.3 seconds, while Onofre was 11th in 12.43 seconds, and Mickley was 12th in 12.51 seconds.
Jones was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 24.93 seconds, while Cook was seventh in 25.02 seconds, and Morley was 13th in 25.36 seconds.
Jones finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 36-feet, 7-inches, and Mickley was 14th at 33-feet, 1 1/2-inches.
Senior Caleb Nason finished sixth in the discus with a toss of 115-feet, 11-inches, while junior Brenden Comstock was seventh at 115-feet, 6-inches, and sophomore Hayden Barlow was 16th at 94-feet, 1-inch.
Nason also finished sixth in the shot put with a heave of 37-feet, 8 1/4-inches, while Comstock was ninth at 35-feet, 11 1/4-inches.
Nason was 11th in the javelin at 112-feet, 3-inches, and Hicks was 21st at 90-feet, 10-inches.
Umber finished seventh in the 400-meter dash in a time of 55.35 seconds, while Peters was ninth in 55.73 seconds, and Morley was 11th in 56.96 seconds.
Ingram finished ninth in the pole vault at 8-feet, 6-inches, and sophomore Holden McKeever was 14th at 7-feet, 6-inches.
Athens returns to action Thursday for Day 1 of the District 4, Class 3A Championships at Williamsport High School.
