VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S BELLES, ATHENS' FLYNN NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (2025-05-13)

THE VALLEY — Waverly junior Brilynn Belles continued her outstanding rookie season under center for the flag football team, and Athens sophomore Brady Flynn played a major role in the Wildcats' 3-1 record on the week. They are the VSR / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending May 10.

BELLES NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Belles completed 60 percent (36 of 60) of her passes in two games for 384 yards, four TDs, and two interceptions. She also ran for 109 yards and one TD on 12 carries.

Belles completed 20 of 36 pass attempts for 199 yards one TD, and one interception in a 27-12 loss to Owego. She also carried the ball five times for 16 yards.

In a 39-17 win over Johnson City, Belles completed 16 of 24 pass attempts for 185 yards and three TDs, with one interception. She also led the Waverly ground game with 93 yards and one TD on seven carries

FLYNN NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Flynn hit .385 (5 hits in 13 ABs), including a hit in all four games, with one double, one stolen base, five runs scored, and seven RBI.

On the mound, Flynn earned a win, and posted a scoreless inning of relief. Overall, Flynn allowed two runs — both unearned — on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. He fanned seven and walked two.
