NTL BASEBALL: TOWANDA ROLLS OVER SAYRE, 16-0, IN FOUR INNINGS (May 15, 2025)

SAYRE — Towanda scored four runs in the top of the first inning, and cruised to a 16-0 four-inning win over Sayre here Thursday afternoon in NTL baseball action at Riverfront Park.

Towanda plated nine runs in the third inning, and added three more in the fourth to bring the 15-run mercy rule into play.

Josh Wheaton (three innings) and Boom Thompson (one inning) combined on a two-hit shutout, each allowing one hit. Wheaton fanned six and walked one and Thompson struck out one.

Senior Mikey Griffin and junior Karter Green each singled to account for Sayre's two hits.

Sayre, now 0-16, wraps up the regular season Saturday at Sullivan County, with a completion of game suspended due to darkness after nine innings with the score tied at 13-13, and a regularly-scheduled game.
