WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: ATHENS GRAD MILLER NAMED UNITED EAST WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SENIOR SCHOLAR ATHLETE AWARD WINNER (2025-05-18)

Kayleigh Miller, a recent grad of Penn College, was recently honored as the United East Women's Basketball Senior Scholar Athlete Award winner, becoming just the third Penn College athlete to earn the award in their respective sport.
"Selfless, dedicated, and unwavering in her support of those around her. With a spirit that lifts others, she always puts her team before herself, leading by example through hard work and perseverance," said women's basketball coach Britni Mooney. "Her excellence extends beyond the court, shining just as brightly in the classroom and in the community. She has left a lasting mark on this program, shaping it in the most positive way, and her impact will be felt for years to come. She is not just a student or an athlete but a role model—one we should all strive to emulate."
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have met the following criteria:
• A student-athlete must have a senior or graduate student class standing.
• A student-athlete must be at least in his or her second year of competition at their current institution in any sport.
• Must be a leading contributor to a team's success throughout the duration of his or her career.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Evidence of active leadership and community service involvement throughout collegiate career
During her career at Penn College, Miller started in 26 of her 99 career games. She scored 450 points in her career, averaging 6 points per game as a freshman and a sophomore. She also knocked down 90 3-pointers during her four years, which put her fifth all-time in program history. She also had 155 career rebounds and 121 assists.
Miller also ran three years of cross country at Penn College.
In the classroom, Miller has been immaculate as she has posted a perfect 4.0 while majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Marketing. Her academic prowess has earned her the Elite 20 (formerly 14) Award twice and has placed her on the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District List every year applicable.
