Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — Athens will play for its first-ever District 4 softball title this afternoon, while Waverly and Tioga are one win away from the same opportunity. The Waverly track & field is in action at the Class C Championships, the first step toward States.

SOFTBALL
District 4 Playoffs

Class 4A Championship
1-Athens vs. 2-Central Columbia, 4:30 p.m. @ Elm Park, Williamsport: The Wildcats advanced to the Class 4A title game with a 2-0 win over Jersey Shore Saturday, while the Blue Jays edged Midd-West, 2-1.

Athens has reached the finals twice in school history, losing to Milton in 2012 and Jersey Shore in 2015.

Section IV Playoffs
Class B Semifinals
4-Waverly (10-9) at 1-Susquehanna Valley (14-2), 4:30 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off an 8-7 win over Oneonta Tuesday, while the Sabers blanked Whitney Point, 21-0.

Susquehanna Valley, ranked No. 2 in the state in Class B, rolled over Waverly, 22-1, during the regular season.

Class C Semifinals
3-Tioga at 2-Union Springs (18-0), 4:30 @ Welles College:
The Tigers are coming off a 9-2 win over Southern Cayuga, while the Wolves topped Seton Catholic, 14-1.

Union Springs beat Tioga 14-1 during the regular season, and 4-0 — its closest game of the season — in the IAC Small School championship game.

Union Springs is ranked sixth in the state in Class C, while Tioga is 16th.

TRACK & FIELD
Waverly at Class C Championships, 3 p.m. @ Oneonta:
The Lady Wolverines have an opportunity to advance a host of athletes to next week's State Qualifier, led by freshman Kaylin Twedt, juniors Haley Larrabee and Mackenzie Chamberlain, senior Harper Minaker, and sophomore Makenzie Olmsted.

GIRLS GOLF
Section IV Championships, 9 a.m. @ Soaring Eagles:
Senior Breanne Robinson and junior Addison Hunt lead Waverly into action with a shot at a team title agains the heavily-favored Corning. The duo also have a shot at one of the nine spots on the Section IV team.
