SECTION IV TRACK & FIELD: TWEDT, SOPRANO, BEEMAN PACE WAVERLY'S EFFORTS AT DAY 1 OF STATE QUALIFIER (15 PHOTOS) (2025-06-04)
Valley Sports ReportENDICOTT — Freshmen Kaylin Twedt and Gianna Soprano, and junior Troy Beeman paced Waverly's efforts here Wednesday at Day 1 of the Section IV Track & Field State Qualifier at Ty Cobb Stadium.
"We had a really successful day, especially given the extreme heat," said Waverly coach Dave Hogan. "We’re very proud of our athletes’ efforts to prepare for and execute their events.
"Many of them had their personal-bests today, and that’s exactly the type of thing we’re hoping for at this point in the post-season.
"I'm looking forward to seeing more great things at Day 2 (Thursday)," added Hogan.
TWEDT, SOPRANO PACE WAVERLY GIRLSTwedt placed third in the 400-meter run in a personal-best time of 59.95 seconds, and junior Haley Larrabee was ninth in a season-best 1:03.17.
Soprano placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:11.78.
BEEMAN PACES WAVERLY BOYSBeeman placed fifth in the discus with a personal-best throw of 142-feet, 6-inches.
Senior Nic Mattison finished seventh in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:05.55.
Senior Riley Pipher finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 1:01.59.
Senior Seth Noto was 10th in the 100-meter dash in 11.91 seconds.
Freshman Jaxon Chandler finished 11th in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 18.33 seconds.
Freshman Drayton DeKay was 11th in the pole vault at 10-feet, 6-inches.
Day 2 action begins Thursday at 5 p.m.
