NEW YORK STATE GIRLS GOLF: ROBINSON BOUNCES BACK WITH 95 ON DAY 2 OF STATE TOURNAMENT (9 PHOTOS) (2025-06-09)
Valley Sports ReportRUSH, N.Y. — Waverly senior Breanne Robinson bounced back from a rough day Sunday to move 17 spots up the final leaderboard here on Monday at the New York State Girls Golf Championships at the Wild Wood Country Club.
"Our experience at States this year demonstrated the grit and integrity it takes to compete in this sport," said Waverly coach Sam Cole.
"Day 1 was full of tough pins and fast greens," she noted. "Day 2 is when Bre was in her element. She learned from the challenges in the previous round and adjusted for better outcomes.
"Bre has had an outstanding career with a lot of great accomplishments," added Cole. "Watching Bre improve season after season has been an honor. I hope she continues to love the sport and share her talent."
Robinson shot a 107 (57-50) Sunday on the 5,520-yard, par-72 course and was in 96th place in a field of 106 golfers.
On Suuday, she bounced back with a 95, including a 46 on the front nine, to jump to 79th place in the final standings.
Robinson posted the fifth-best score of the 10 Section IV golfers to qualify for the state tournament.
Corning freshman Delaney Abel finished third with a two-day total of 148. She shot a 70 and was tied for the lead after Round 1, but shot a 78 on Monday, while eventual winner Nina Choe of Ursline followed up her 70 with a 68 Monday for a of 6-under par total of 138.
Teagan Mahoney of Hunter-Tannersville tied for 33rd with a two-day total of 169, Vestal's Allison Yoon tied for 70th with a two-day total of 191, and Notre Dame's Evelyn Wheeler was 76th at 196.
