DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL (MAJORS): ATHENS TOPS RTL, 5-2; IMPROVES TO 2-0 IN POOL PLAY (24 PHOTOS) (2025-06-15)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Terrianna Orshal provided the big hit and Bryn Bishop and Olivi Wilcox combined on a strong pitching performance to lead Athens to a 5-2 win over RTL here Saturday afternoon in District 15 Majors Division softball playoff pool play action.
With the win, Athens improves to 2-0 and clinches a spot in bracket play.
With RTL leading 2-1, Kendall Butcher led off the bottom of the fourth for Athens with a single, and walks to Sophia Barrett and Harper Liechty loaded the bases.
With one out, Orshal cleared the bases with a three-run triple to give Athens a 4-2 lead. Molly McGrath followed with an RBI single to pad the lead.
Bishop earned the win, allowing two runs — one earned — on four hits, while striking out four and walking four in four innings.
Wilcox picked up the save with two innings of one-hit scoreless relief. She struck out one and walked one.
Orshal tripled, scored one run, and had three RBI to lead Athens at the plate, while McGrath singled and drove in one run, and Kendall Butcher singled and scored one run.
Sophia Barrett scored a pair of runs, and Harper Liechty scored one run in the win.
Athens returns to action Sunday when it hosts Tunkhannock in the final game of pool play.
