DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): ATHENS BLANKS SAYRE, 10-0, IN OPENING GAME OF POOL PLAY (24 PHOTOS) (2025-06-15)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Athens plated five runs in the first inning, and a pair of pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 10-0 four-inning win over Sayre here Saturday in the opening game of pool play in the District 15 Little League baseball playoffs.
E.J. Glielmi fanned five and walked two in two no-hit innings on the mound for Athens, and Brady Shores struck out two and walked four in the final two innings of one-hit relief.
Jacob Keene hit a 3-run home run to cap Athens' first-inning rally, while Glielmi tripled, scored one run, and knocked in one run, and Carter Johnson Doubled and scored one run.
Easton Hubbard Singled, scored one run, and drove in one run in the win, while Kruze Payne singled and knocked in one run, Wyatt Raupers scored one run and drove in one run, Casyn Rowe scored a pair of runs, and Connor Robinson, Brady Shores and Luke Shores each crossed the plate once.
Atillio Angellino logged Sayre's only hit in the game, and Andrew Howey reached base twice via base on balls.
Athens returns to action Wednesday when it hosts RTL.
