DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL (MINORS): ATHENS RALLIES TO TOP RTL, 10-5; IMPROVES TO 2-0 IN POOL PLAY (2025-06-15)
Valley Sports ReportWYALUSING — Athens scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to complete a come-from-behind, 10-5, win over RTL here Sunday afternoon in pool play action of the District 15 Little League baseball playoffs.
With the win, Athens improves to 2-0 in pool play. It closes out pool play Monday at Tunkhannock, and will clinch a home game in the opening round of bracket play with a win.
Athens, playing as the home team, trailed 5-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but rallied for four runs — on an RBI double by Ada Wilson and RBI singles by Cece Shangraw, Riley Shores and Breah Wilcox — to tie the game at 5-5.
In the bottom of the fifth, Ava Rhodes drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single, and Lindsay Ahern and Carly Bishop added RBI singles in a five-run inning that put Athens on top 10-5.
Hadley Liechty retired the side in order in the top of the sixth inning, including a pair of strikeouts, to wrap up the win.
Nora Morales doubled and singled and scored two runs, while Shores singled twice, scored one run, and drove in one run, Ahern singled twice, scored one run, and knocked in one run, and Carly Bishop singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs.
Rhodes and Shangraw singled, scored one run, and drove in one run in the win, while Wilson and Breah Wilcox singled and knocked in one run, and Livia Powers, Liechty, and Amelia Braunbeck each crossed the plate once.
