DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): ATHENS RIDES 15-RUN FIRST-INNING TO 21-7 WIN OVER MONTROSE (June 19, 2025)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens plated 15 runs in the top of the first inning, and cruised to a 21-7 win over Montrose here Thursday night in the opening round of bracket play in the District 15 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.
Athens, playing as the visiting team, banged out 10 hits, and took advantage of two errors, a hit batter and three fielder's choices that resulted in no outs in the first-inning barrage.
Jase Blair had three hits, three runs scored, and two RBI and Colson Bishop tripled, doubled, scored one run, and had seven RBI to pace Athens' 12-hit attack, while Hudson Glielmi singled twice, scored three runs, and drove in two runs, and Giovanni Sharpe doubled and singled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run.
Jett Raupers singled and scored three runs in the win, while Jorey Raupers singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, Moyer Campbell singled and scored two runs, Kaleb Chambers scored three runs, Colton Ecker and Calvin Mosher each scored one run and knocked in one run.
Jett Raupers started on the mound for Athens, striking out three and walking three in 1 2/3 innings of no-hit ball, while Ecker allowed six runs — all unearned — on three hits, with three strikeouts and no walks.
Bishop closed out the game, allowing one run on three walks, with three strikeouts in an inning of no-hit relief.
Athens travels to Blue Ridge Sunday for a quarter-final match-up at 4 p.m.
