DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (JUNIORS): ATHENS FALLS TO SOUTHERN TIOGA-BREON, 11-1, IN WINNER'S BRACKET FINALS (24 PHOTOS) (2025-06-21)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Southern Tioga-Breon broke open a close game with a seven-run fourth inning on its way to an 11-1 win over Athens here Saturday afternoon in the winner's brackets finals of the District 15 Little League Juniors Division baseball playoffs.
The win avenges ST-Breon's 4-2 loss to Athens in pool play.
Athens, playing as the visitors, started fast with a single by Cooper Hugo to lead off the game, and walks to Anthony Johnson and Even Westerfield to loaded the bases.
Wes Alderfer stroked an RBI single into left field to make it 1-0, but a potential second run was gunned down at the plate. ST-Breon starter Ryder Breon then struck out the next two batters to avoid further damage.
Athens managed just one more hit — a two-out single in the fifth inning by Emmitt Kingsley — over the final five innings.
ST-Breon scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, then closed out the game via the 10-run rule with four runs in the sixth inning.
Athens will host Southern Tioga-Brant Monday at 6 p.m. in the consolation bracket finals. Athens beat ST-Brant, 9-2, in pool play, and 9-5, in bracket play.
