DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (11U): ATHENS ROLLS TO 13-2 WIN OVER WELLSBORO; ADVANCES TO CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND (16 PHOTOS) (2025-06-26)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens pushed seven runs across the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning to close out a 13-2 four-inning win over Wellsboro here Thursday in the consolation bracket finals of the District 15 Little League 11U baseball playoffs.
Athens will host unbeaten Blue Ridge Saturday at 3 p.m. in the championship round.
Athens, which dropped a 6-4 decision to Wellsboro in the semifinals, scored two runs in the home half of the first, and three more in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.
After Wellsboro scored its only two run-in the top of the third, Athens answered with one run in the home half to make it 6-2.
Athens took advantage of four consecutive base on balls to extend the lead to 7-2, then Bentley Stephens stroked a two-run single to make it 9-2. After two more walks pushed the lead to 10-2.
Lincoln Miller finished off the game with a three-RBI double to center field.
Miller also earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out seven and walked one in four innings of work.
Miller rapped out three hits, including pair of doubles, and had four RBI, and Beau Hall belted a pair of doubles, scored two runs, and drove in two runs to pace Athens' nine-hit attack.
Parker Collum and Stephens each had one hit, one run scored, and two RBI in the win, while Leo Loziere singled and scored two runs, Tucker Owens added a single, Landon Briggs scored two runs and drove in one run, Grant Campbell scored one run and knocked in one run, and Bentley Arcesi, Austin Briggs, and Brennan Congdon each crossed the plate once.
