DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): WAVERLY FALLS AT ELMIRA, 17-2 (2025-06-26)
Valley Sports ReportELMIRA — Elmira jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead on its way to a 17-2 three-inning win over Waverly in pool play here Thursday in the District 6 Majors Division baseball playoffs.
Elmira, playing as the visiting team, scored five runs in the top of the first inning.
Waverly answered with two runs in the bottom of the first on an RBI groundout off the bat of Brody Payne, and an RBI double by Liam Barton to close the gap to 5-2.
After a scoreless second inning, Elmira pushed 12 runs across the plate in the third inning to being the 15-run rule into play, then held Waverly scoreless in the home half of the frame to end the game.
Christian Hiralez singled and scored one run, while Barton doubled and drove in one run, Wyatt Sharpsteen and Quentin Goose Each added a single, Michael Hendershot scored one run, and Payne drove in one run.
Waverly, now 0-2, hosts Big Flats Saturday at 11 a.m. in pool play action.
