SECTION III LITTLE LEAGUE (SENIORS): ATHENS FALLS TO SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, 7-1, IN WINNER'S BRACKET FINALS (2025-06-30)

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — Athens scored first, but South Williamsport rallied for a 7-1 win here Monday evening in the winner's bracket finals of the Section III Seniors Division Little League baseball playoffs.

Kam Wheeler singled home Kade Rowe, who led off the bottom of the third inning with a walk and stole second, to give Athens a 1-0 lead, but it could only muster one more hit the remainder of the contest.

South Williamsport answered with a run in the top of the fourth inning, two more in the fifth, and three more in the sixth to take a 6-1 lead, before adding a final insurance run in the top of the seventh.

Wheeler singled twice and drove in one run, and Duncan Thetga added a single to account for Athens' three hits. Rowe scored one run in the setback.

Thetga was tagged with the loss, allowing three runs — two earned  — on two hits, while walking six and striking out two.

Athens will square off with Danville in the consolation bracket finals Tuesday, with the winner playing South Williamsport Wednesday in the championship round.
