YOUTH BASKETBALL: WELL-ATTENDED WAVERLY BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP CROWNS CHAMPS, HANDS OUT AWARDS (24 PHOTOS) (2025-07-13)

WAVERLY — The annual Waverly boys’ basketball camp was back this week with big numbers as the camp had 194 kids in attendance. 

The camp ended with the traditional NBA division against the coaches’ all-star game. The high school kids had never beaten the coaches before, but there is a first for everything and this year they defeated the coaches in overtime. 

Troy’s Trey Teribury hit a 3-pointer with less than two seconds left to force overtime and in the final seconds of overtime Troy’s Spencer Martin hit a game-winning three. 

In the NBA division, the foul-shooting champion was Wellsboro’s RJ Doughty. Teribury, Doughtie, Brock Carr of Elmira and Moe Zinger of Odessa-Montour were the three-on-three champs.

Aidan Briggs of Athens and Mike Sutryk of Notre Dame were the three-point champs and Martin was the hot shot champion, while Porter Daddona of Waverly was the one-on-one champion.

Kevin Clementer-Vazquez of Mansfield was the Hustle Award winner and Carr was most improved, while Aidan Vanderpool of Athens was the 1/2-camp scholarship winner. 

Teribury, Adam Kemp of Athens, Jason Harer of Mansfield, Gideon Lawton of Athens, Lucas Schultz of Athens and Daddona were the all-stars and Martin was MVP.

Ben Shaw of Waverly and Boom Thompson of Towanda were the camp defensive team players and Collin Wheeler of Waverly was the Al Geppert Award winner. 

The team champion was the New York Knicks team. The team was comprised of Landon Cole of Troy, Doughtie, Sutryk, Carr, Martin, Dominic Robbins of Athens, Chase Wheeler of Waverly, Pryor Teribury of Troy and Daddona. 

In Division 1, Cal Whitty of Elmira was the foul-shooting champion and the three-on-three champions were Drew Croft of Waverly, Deegan Blumenhauer of Towanda and Ryan Hicks of Athens,.

The 3-point champions were Eli and JT Morrell of Elmira. Alex Wilson of Corning was the hot shot champion.

Aidan Malarzo of Waverly was one-on-one champion and Hicks was the Hustler Award winner, while Cooper Skovira of Waverly was the most improved and Brycen Fiske of Waverly won the 1/2-camp scholarship.

All-stars were Cal Clearwater of Elira, Braylen Jessup of Wellsboro,  Brody Lambert of Waverly, Whitty and Ian Johnston of Athens. Croft was MVP. 

Grady Corral of Wellsboro and Madden Presher of Waverly were the camp defensive team players and Brock Rose of Waverly was the Al Geppert Award winner.

The Duke team was team champions with Clearwater, Malarzo, Fiske, Isiah Watson of Wyalusing, Parker Smith of Athens, Kobe Renzo of Troy, Cooper Skovira of Waverly, Morral and Gabriel Hendershot of Waverly.

The Division II foul shooting champion was Gavin Harmer of Horseheads. Troy’s Kyper McWhorter of Troy, Eli Jennings of Canton, Carlos Vasquez of Mansfield and Parker Earle of Canton teamed to win the three-on-three title.

The three-point champs were Harmer and Vincent Biddle of Horseheads. The hot shot champion was Harmer, and Sawyer Tremaine of Horseheads was one-on-one champion.

Tremaine was knockout champion and Camden Ferris of Thomas Edison was the Hustler Award winner. Seth Janke of Odessa-Montour was most improved, and Cameron Shaw of Sayre was the 1/2-camp scholarship winner.

Lincoln Thomas of Candor, Ryder Chamberlain of Waverly, Jimmy Renzi of Troy, Tremaine and EJ Glielmi of Athens and Harmer were the all-stars, while Colin Beebe of NEB was MVP. Carson Hunt of Waverly and Eli Leavenworth of Athens were the camp defensive award winners and Chase Lathrop of Waverly was the Al Geppert Award winner. 

The team champions were Nova Southeastern. Thomas, Beebe, Sylas Silvernail, Wesley Kershner of Wyalusing, Elijah Harper of Ernie Davis Academy, Jennings, Olivier Hyde of Addison, Willy Schoonover of Canton and Wesley Burgert of NEB were on the winning team. 

In Division III, Silas Martin of Troy was the foul shooting champion and the three-point champions were Hayden Riley of Finn Academy, Clayton Morgan of Troy, Gabe Brown of GCA, and Martin.

The hot shot champion was Nate Davenport of Candor, while Jase Sheely of Troy was the one-on-one champion and Weston Driscoll of Canton was the knockout champion. The Hustle Award winner was Winston Aiello of Owego and most improved was Paxton Campbell of Athens. The 1/2-camp scholarship winner was Kai Keeney of Wyalusing.

The all-stars were Martin, Jacob Evans of Corning Christian Academy, Khalil Dorsey of Waverly, Silas Wayman of Athens and Driscoll. Shelly was MVP. 

Gabe Brown of Greece Christian Academy and Troy’s Sheely were on the camp defensive team and the best camper was Morgan. 

The Union College team was the team champions. The team consisted of Sheely, Driscoll, Carter Treamine of Ridge Road, Ben Reeves of Athens, Clayton Auerbach of of Ridge Road, Paxton Campell of Athens and Keeney.
