BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY EDGES CORNING TO WIN WAVERLY SUMMER LEAGUE JV TITLE (2025-07-19)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Second-seeded Waverly reeled off three straight wins, including a victory over top-seeded Corning in the championship game, to win the Waverly Summer League junior varsity boys basketball title here Thursday night.
Waverly opened with a 50-18 win over seventh-seeded Tioga in the quarterfinals, while Corning topped Candor. Meanwhile, fourth-seeded Athens dropped a 37-26 decision to Sullivan County.
In the semifinals, Waverly beat Wellsboro, 42-30, while Corning rolled to a 48-28 win over Sullivan County.
In the finals, Waverly edged Corning, 38-36.
