ATHENS — With heat acclimation week in the rear-view window, Athens football coach said his team is working hard in preparation for the 2025 season.

"It was a pretty good week," said Bradley in regards to heat acclimation.

"The kids are working hard," he noted. "They worked hard all off-season, so we're kind of continuing that.

"We're just trying to pick up where we left off as far as seven-on-sevens, but doing a lot of installs."

Bradley said his numbers are a little down.

"We have 35 kids, a couple of them are off this morning," he said. "Not great numbers, but we'll work with what we have. We're working to get a few more kids to come out."

Bradley said his team turned in a very strong offseason.

"We had a very good offseason, these guys did a ton of stuff.

"We did five seven-on-seven tournaments, three lineman competitions, three or four camps for the kids, coaches clinics, and a couple weight-lifting competitions," said Bradley. "These kids did a lot this summer; hopefully, that starts paying off."

The focus of the preseason, says Bradley, has been "consistency."

"Consistency ... getting to a point where these guys know their jobs, then consistency and performance," he said. "Just know your job and then perform it."

The Wildcats will scrimmage at Mifflinburg, along with Bloomsburg, in a three-team scrimmage Saturday.

Athens opens the 2025 season at home Aug. 22 against South Williamsport.
