IAC GIRLS SOCCER: TIOGA'S POTTER PLEASED WITH NUMBERS, RETURNING TALENT, FOCUSED ON 'TOUCHES' IN THE PRESEASON (14 PHOTOS) (2025-08-19)
By TIM BIRNEYValley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Second-year Tioga girls soccer coach Emily Potter is pleased with her team's numbers, and returning talent, and is focused on getting as many touches as possible during the 2025 preseason.
"It's great to be back on the field.
"We have a lot of talent here," said Potter. "It looks like it will be a good, very productive year.
"We have 14 out this year, and that's not a bad number," she noted. "We only lost three seniors," said Potter. "We have a few new faces, and four seniors this year.
"We have three that we pulled up from modified, and two of them are 8th-graders.
"We have a very good mix of classes," Potter added.
Potter said the Tigers worked on conditioning over the summer.
"Our focus now is getting touches on the ball.
"We did our conditioning camp this summer, which allows us to get more touches on the ball, and working together as a team," she said.
"We have a couple girls who have never played before, so the more time we can give them to collaborate with the team and get touches on the ball is what we're looking for.
"We still do some conditioning, but that's not the main focus," added Potter.
Tioga will scrimmage Tuesday at Waverly with O-M and Horseheads also in attendance for the round-robin four-way scrimmage.
