THE VALLEY — The Athens and Tioga boys soccer teams will open their 2025 seasons this afternoon under first-year coaches, while the Athens, Sayre and Waverly coaches will be in action as well.

BOYS SOCCER
Athens at NEB, 4 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 9-8-3 season, while the Panthers posted a 4-13-1 mark.

Last year, Athens won a 3-1 decision in the season-opener.

Marathon at Tioga, 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off an 0-11-1 season, while the Olympians posted a 13-3-1 record in a season that ended with a loss in the Class C semifinals to eventual champ Southern Cayuga.

Last year, Marathon topped Tioga, 10-1, in the season opener.

GOLF
Sayre, Wyalusing at Athens, 4:30 p.m. @ Shepard Hills: In a new feature of NTL golf, Athens will host Sayre and Wyalusing in a 9-hole match.

The Wildcats are in second place in the NTL with a 17-4 record, while Wyalusing is tied for fifth at 8-15, and Sayre is in eighth at 0-21.

BOYS GOLF
Waverly (0-1) at Windsor (0-1), 1:30 p.m.: The Wolverines dropped a 219-239 decision to Norwich, while the Black Knights lost 216-241 to Chenango Forks.
