NTL VOLLEYBALL: SAYRE DROPS SEASON-OPENER TO NORTH PENN-LIBERTY (24 PHOTOS) (2025-08-27) Valley Sports Report SAYRE — Sayre played North Penn-Liberty tough, but in the end dropped a season-opening 3-0 decision here Tuesday night in NTL volleyball action.
The Mounties pulled away from a 15-15 tie in the first set to win 25-18, then rallied from an early five-point deficit to pull out a 25-23 win in the second set.
NP-L closed out the night with a 25-17 win in the third set.
Freshman Lilliana Schack led Sayre with seven digs and six kills, while sophomore Reghan McGaughey had four kills and 15 digs, and senior Alex Schack recorded 19 digs.
Senior Rylee Lantz had two service aces, two digs, and one block for the Redskins, while junior Yhale Doon had seven setter assists, five digs and two aces, and sophomore Grace Russo added five digs.
It is the 67th straight setback for the Redskins.
Sayre returns to action Thursday when it hosts Wellsboro.
JV: NP-L swept the JV match by scores of 25-9 and 25-12.
