THE VALLEY — Sayre plays its second home football game in as many weeks tonight, while Athens hits the road for the first time in 2025.

FOOTBALL
Athens (1-0) at Northwest Area (0-1), 7 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off an impressive, 47-27, Week 1 win over South Williamsport, while the Rangers dropped a 17-6 decision at Canton.

Athens piled up 434 yards in total offense in Week 1, with 233 rushing yards and 201 passing yards.

Junior QB Connor Davidson completed 11 of 14 passes for 199 yards and four TDs (and also had a 70-yard TD called back). He also ran for 153 yards and one TD on 12 carries.

Senior receiver James Friend was his favorite target, hauling in three receptions for 94 yards and one TD. He also caught the 70-yard TD pass that was nullified.

Northwest allowed more than 200 rushing yards in its loss to Canton, and an additional 88 yards through the air.

The Rangers had just 122 yards in total offense.

North Penn-Mansfield (1-0) at Sayre (0-1), 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 57-8 loss to Troy Friday at the Lockhart Street Bowl, while the Panthers are coming off a season-opening 21-14 win over Wyalusing.

Luke Kreger was NP-M's Mr. Do-It-All in Week 1 with 109 rushing yards and two TDs on 16 carries, one reception for 12 yards, an 87 yard punt return to a score, and two interceptions.

Sayre offered little resistance, and had a few players injured in Week 1.

BOYS SOCCER
Tioga at Southern Cayuga, 4:30 p.m.:
The Tigers will look to bounce back from a 12-0 season-opening loss  to Marathon Wednesday.
