THE VALLEY — A busy week begins Tuesday with a Valley match-up on the volleyball hardwoods as Waverly plays its first-ever match on its new court against Athens, and ends with the Wolverine Girls Swimming & Diving Invitational on Saturday.

There are 27 events on the schedule this week, including seven each on Wednesday and Thursday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

•  Athens hosts NEB and Sullivan County in cross country action at Round Top Park.

•  Waverly opens its 2025 volleyball season against Valley rival Athens.

•  Waverly hosts Section IV boys soccer power Oneonta under the lights at Memorial Stadium.

WEDNESDAY (7)
•  Defending Section IV champ Tioga opens the 2025 volleyball season at IAC North power Lansing.

•  Tioga field hockey opens its 2025 campaign at home against state powerhouse Whitney Point.

•  Tioga plays its girls soccer home opener against Southern Cayuga.

•  Sayre hosts NTL-leading Towanda on the links at Shepard Hills.

•  Waverly hosts Shepard Hills in boys golf at Shepard Hills.

THURSDAY (7)
•  Athens hosts NP-Liberty in an NTL volleyball match.

•  Tioga hosts Newfield in an IAC Small School boys soccer contest.

•  Sayre hosts NEB in an NTL Small School volleyball match.

FRIDAY (4)
•  Athens hosts NTL Large School rival Canton on the gridiron at Alumni Stadium.

•  Sayre is on the road against NTL Small School football rival Montgomery.

•  Tioga hosts Newfield in an IAC Small School girls soccer match.

•  Tioga field hockey hosts Afton-Harpursville.

SATURDAY (5)
•  Waverly hosts the Wolverine Girls Swimming & Diving Invite.

•  Tioga is in action at the Corning Volleyball Tournament.

•  Athens is running at the Forbes Invite in Oneonta.

•  Waverly girls soccer is in action at the Hall of Fame Tournament.
