NTL VOLLEYBALL: WELLSBORO RALLIES TO TOP ATHENS, 3-1 (20 PHOTOS) (2025-09-11)
Valley Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Athens opened fast with a win in the first set, but Wellsboro regrouped and won the next three in a 3-1 victory here Thursday night in NTL Large School Division volleyball action.
The Wildcats, now 1-5, opened with a 25-20 win in the first set, but the Hornets answered with wins of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-17.
Sophomore Ellie Mosher led Athens with nine kills and two service aces, while sophomore Kendall Galasso had six kills and three aces, and freshman Kayla Forbes two aces, nine digs, and 15 serve-receptions.
Sophomore Lainey Vosburgh had 12 digs and 21 serve-receptions for the Wildcats, while junior Meg Wiles recorded 11 setter assists and three aces, junior Gretchan Hiley registered four kills, and junior Hannah Parrish added five assists.
Taylor Main led Wellsboro with 17 points, including five aces, and seven assists, while Maddy Cruttenden had 15 points (three aces) and 10 digs, Peyton Keane and Kendall Sweet registered eight blocks apiece.
Athens returns to action Saturday when it hosts Abington Heights.
