NTL FOOTBALL: DAVIDSON, SIPLEY LEADS ATHENS IN 54-13 ROUT OF NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD (19 PHOTOS) (2025-09-19)
Valley Sports ReportBLOSSBURG, Pa. — Junior Connor Davidson threw for three scores, and ran for another, and senior Karson Sipley also accounted for four TDs as Athens raced out to a 34-0 halftime lead on its way to a 54-13 win over previously-unbeaten North Penn-Mansfield here Friday night in NTL Large School football action.
"We had a couple guys step up because a couple guys got dinged up, which you don't like to see," said Athens coach Shawn Bradley. "A lot of kids stepped up, played key roles, and made big plays. It was good to see.
"And, I'm happy everyone got to play," he added.
The Wildcats piled up 478 yards in total offense, including 186 rushing yards, while limiting NP-M to just 137 yards.
"The biggest thing is the line played awesome; those kids were moving people, it was fantastic," said Bradley.
"We had a little second quarter slump, and the linemen said 'put it on us, just run the football,'" noted Bradley. "And, Karson ran the ball really well. They showed us something."
The Wildcats also picked up the pace on offense.
"We've been working on the no-huddle," said Bradley. "Last week, we had some trouble sending plays in, and that's totally on me. So, we started talking about the no-huddle, and the kids grabbed on to it, had fun with it, and we looked pretty good. Hopefully, we can build on it."
Connor Davidson completed 8 of 11 passes for 157 yards and three TDs, and freshman Shea Davidson completed 9 of 13 passes for 135 yards, and one TD.
The Davidson brothers completed passes to six different receivers.
"We're throwing the ball well, and catching the ball well," said Bradley. "We had a bunch of receivers catch a ball, and Karson (Sipley) caught a ball out of the backfield."
Gage Marmor led Athens' receivers with six catches for 71 yards and two TDs, while Kade Rowe had three grabs for 72 yards and one TD, Ryan Cook had three receptions for 73 yards, Dom Robbins had three catches for 50 yards, Sipley had one grab for a 20-yard TD, and James Friend had one catch for six yards.
Sipley led the Athens ground game with 132 yards and three TDs, while Brendan Cooke had 42 yards on three carries, and Connor Davidson added 17 yards and one TD on three carries.
Connor Davidson opened the scoring with an 8-yard TD run. Zach Fisher's PAT kick made it 7-0.
Davidson's first TD pass was a 10-yard strike to Marmor, and Fisher's PAT kick made it 14-0.
Sipley made it 20-0 with an 8-yard TD run in the final moments of the first quarter.
Connor Davidson added TD tosses of 25 yards to Marmor and 20 yards to Sipley in the second quarter to give the Wildcats a 34-0 lead at the half.
Sipley scored on a 12-yard TD run early in the third quarter, and Fisher's kick made it 41-0.
NP-M got on the board moments later when Luke Kreger ripped off an 88-yard kick return to close the gap to 41-6.
Sipley's final carry of the night was a 6-yard TD run in the final minute of the third quarter to extend the lead to 47-6.
Athens' final score of the game was a 62-yard TD pass from Shea Davidson to Rowe. Fisher seventh PAT of the night made it 54-6.
Moments later, Colton Pellett was in the end zone for NP-M after an 84-yard kick return. Brody Grinnell's PAT kick provided the final margin.
Athens, now 4-1, travels to Wellsboro next Friday.
