NTL FOOTBALL: MUNCY RIDES FAST START TO 42-0 WIN OVER SAYRE (2025-09-20)
Valley Sports ReportMUNCY — Muncy scored four first-quarter TDs and cruised to a 42-0 win over Sayre here Saturday night in NTL Small School football action.
The Indians had four different players cross the goal line in the opening stanza, beginning with a 41-yard QB keeper from Andrew Walters with 8:40 remaining. Austin Hartzel added the PAT kick to make it 7-0.
Less than two minutes later, after a Sayre three-and-out, Nate Rogers returned a punt 65 yards to paydirt. Lucas McCahan's PAT kick made it 14-0.
After another quick Sayre possession, Muncy put together a short drive, capped by Wes Somits' 16-yard TD run with 4:18 remaining in the first quarter. Nolan Trostle's PAT kick made it 21-0.
Muncy got the ball back following a Sayre turnover and were in the end zone again in less than two minutes on an 8-yard TD pass from Walters to Carter Feigles with 2:23 remaining in the opening stanza. Hartzel's kick made it 28-0.
The only other score of the first half came on a 9-yard run by Walters with 8:59 remaining in the second quarter. McCahan's kick extended the lead to 35-0.
In the fourth quarter, the Indians closed out the scoring with a 78-yard TD run by Layken Harris with 4:23 remaining. Trostle's kick made it 42-0.
The Redskins had 101 yards in total offense, including 56 rushing yards. Hudson Malanoski led Sayre with 36 yards on 12 carries, and Riley Johnson added 32 yards on 17 carries.
Declan Barry completed 3 of 11 passes for 45 yards and one interception, with Quinn Chandler hauling in two catches for 35 yards and Johnson added one grab for 10 yards.
Muncy had 302 yards in total offense, including 175 rushing yards on 14 carries. Harris led Muncy with 80 yards and one TD on three carries, while Walters had 64 yards and two TDs on three carries, and Somitis added 43 yards and one TD on five carries.
Walters completed 5 of 8 passes for 48 yards and one TD, and Weikle hit on 3 of 6 passes for 79 yards.
Sayre, now 0-5, returns to action Saturday at Northwest Area (1-4), which picked up its first win of the season in a 36-12 decisionovr New Hope-Solesbury.
